Micro-Pavilions

This brief called for site specific social spaces in multiple locations around Sydney. To the left are three iterations for a bar in Paddington Reservoir, utilising a simplified staggered form in different sequences to cultivate varying levels of interaction and socialisation in the users.

The second slideshow shows designs sought to add program to the lawn at the edge of the Sydney Botanical Gardens, a space that is a thoroughfare for tourists and locals. The concept of the design came from an image of the skyline of the city, as seen from the Gardens. This formed the silhouette of the space which provides shelter from the elements as well as a space for congregation and socialisation. The three iterations were explorations of placement and arrangement to maximise the functionality and aesthetic of the pavilion.
