museum of de-extinction

A hybrid conservation zoo, museum and laboratory that exhibits three reanimated extinct species as well as supporting endangered species. Through exploration and research on existing models of the museum, zoo & laboratory, I have decided to design a space primarily to educate visitors and patrons of the importance of conservation of species. I will place highest importance on the three de-extinct species, cultivating and simulating their natural environments, allowing them enough space to socialise, breed and re-establish themselves for eventual release back into the wild. This space will act more like a sanctuary, than a zoo; patrons will have a set path through the space whilst animals are free roaming, relatively unrestricted within the extremities of the site, Pier 2/3. A space that redefines the relationship between subject and viewer; what is seen versus unseen. A space that will re-establish animals from extinction for eventual release back into their natural environment. A hybrid zoo, museum and laboratory space that provides maximum immersion for the viewer and suitable simulated habitats for animals.
